What to Expect

We are thrilled that you are considering joining us for Sunday morning worship. Below are some common questions which those who are joining us for the first time may have.

Our Coffee Shop is open for donuts and coffee at 9:00 am before the Life Groups meet and again a 10:30 am before the Worship service starts. The Coffee Shop is on the ground-level, side entrance under the awning.  Both visitors and members are welcome to stop by for free snacks and coffee and to get to know one another, or to learn more about our church. This is a great way to get to know the church and its members outside of the worship services, as members from both the Modern and Traditional services regularly attend the Coffee Shop.

What is the Sunday services like?

Our Worship service, an energetic worship experience, begins 11:00 am . The music, performed by our Praise Band, is upbeat. It includes fellowship time and special music performed by soloists. We love to give everyone, who wishes, a chance to use their God given talents to worship the Lord. Afterwards, our Pastor delivers an inspirational, relevant message and then presents an invitation to all present an opportunity to come forward and receive Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savoir or to ask for the Lord’s forgiveness of sins.

How should I dress?

You’ll find our members dressed in everything from casual wear to suits, with younger members preferring more casual attire. Please wear whatever you find more comfortable for worship. We care much more about your presence than what you are wearing.

What about my children?

Nursery, where trained nursery workers will care for your children, is provided children ages 0-3 years old with an age appropriate curriculum. Children learn about God’s Word and how it applies to their lives through a variety of learning activities, including Bible stories, activities, games, and crafts.

KidZone, an energetic and fun time of ministry designed for children ages 4 to 8 years old, is also available. It includes time for worship, prayer time, a Bible lesson, and crafts. The curriculum is designed just for kids. It is a time of fun while learning about God and the Bible. The KidZone is located on the lower level near the Coffee Shop.

Life Groups for all ages meet between 9:30 – 10:30 am. The greeters at the doors to the sanctuary will be happy to lead you to either the Nursery. KidsZone or the appropriate Life Group meeting.

Children of all ages are, of course, welcome in worship service as well.

Where should I go?

For directions to the church, please see our Map and Directions page.

VFBCBuilding

As a first time guest, please enter into the sanctuary through the double doors at the front of the building. Our greeters will welcome you and ensure you receive a bulletin outlining the service schedule and week’s activities. If you will be attending one of our worship services, please take a moment to record your visit by filling out one of the Connection Cards located in the back of the seats throughout the sanctuary and either handing it to one of the greeters, or placing it in the collections basket during the service. These Connection Cards will be used so that we may keep in contact with you and give you a way to find out more about our church community. If you are attending one of the Life Groups, let the greeters know and they can direct you to your class.

Will I be singled out as a visitor?

SanctuaryWe know that visiting a new church for the first time can be an exciting experience. We’re a friendly church, and you’ll be joyfully welcomed by our greeters at the door, and by our members during the fellowship time in the worship services. We’d love to keep in touch with you after your visit, so please be sure to fill out a Connection Card and give it to one of the greeters at the door before you leave.

After the worship service concludes, visitors are extended an invitation to visit our Hospitality Room located just off the hall behind the sanctuary. There you will have an opportunity to meet the Pastor and other members to be able to learn a little more about our church, and have some free coffee and doughnuts.
