Oftentimes senior adults, who are no longer able to attend Sunday morning services, can be overlooked in a church’s ministry. At Vinings First Baptist Church, we understand the need for outreach to the aging population in our community. In order to further our mission to help spread the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ with those around us, we have established a mid-week worship and Bible study at the Smyrna Towers retirement community located near the church at 4000 South Cobb Drive.
Our Thursday service starts at 10:30 a.m. with singing of praises to God and runs through 11:15 a.m. God’s word is shared with the attendees, and time is allowed for fellowship and refreshments before and after the event. The mid-week services have continued to see an increase in attendance since we began our ministry. Through our outreach to Smyrna Towers, we hope to meet the residents’ needs for spiritual growth, encouragement, and support; but we also wish to give those who are lost an opportunity to learn more about the hope we have in Jesus and to receive eternal salvation.
When people love the Lord, they starve for His words to be shared with them. Each week we receive words of thanks and deep appreciation from those who attend our services at Smyrna Towers, encouraging us as we continue to provide this vital ministry to our community.
